Soul Penny Circus
Soul Penny Circus is a collaborative collective of artists that aims to bring theater to everybody including those who normally can’t access it.
Soul Penny is a mishmash of hybrid artists. They include aerialists, dancers, clowns and theater production artists. They’ve been performing together four years, starting with the first Denver Fringe Festival. Since then, they’ve been performing all over Colorado and this year they’re traveling abroad to participate in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland. The company does a lot of community and school workshops to inspire the younger Colorado generations in the theater arts genre. Fae Walls is their Public Relations rep as well as a dancer in the company. “Our goal is to work with Colorado communities as well as opening ourselves up to greater opportunities internationally.” The communities that make up a big focus is the northern areas including Greeley and other smaller cities.
Soul Penny is a tight knit group that’s evolved into their own community. I first met them at a first Friday art event. I witnessed a loving and fun group that loves to involve the audience in their performances. Later, I had the pleasure to photograph and watch their show “The Mourning Tree” which featured aerialists, acrobatics, puppetry, and clowning. They’re amazing artists that put on a great show.
